Brand Words
(this content is intended to go with the Niche Worksheet you can find in our Brand Partner resources here: www.theJoyDroppers.com/nextlevelguide)

Let's talk about some excellent personal brands that you might recognize.

First, let's talk about Beyoncé. What are her vibes? What words would you use to represent what she's about?
< Confident. Queen bee. Girl power. Fierce (Sasha fierce). Strong.>

Next up, Taylor Swift, ladies and gentlemen. What are her fives? What words would you use to represent what she's about?
<Silly. Inclusive. Empowering. Forward thinking. Loving. Dramatic. Fun.>

All right, let's go back to the past a little bit and think about our childhood friend… Eeyore. What are his vibes? What words would you use to represent what he was about?
<Sad. Pessimistic. Well-meaning. Party pooper. Negative.>

OK, now think about that person on your newsfeed who constantly posts alienating political rants, social issues, or aggressive news articles. When you think of those people, specific words probably come to mind as well. Words like: drama, angry, argumentative… These are NOT things we want people to think about us!

Think through some people you admire on social media, what words come to mind for them? Think about your up upline and downline leaders. Think about people who you want to reach out to. How would you describe them, what are the words that come to mind?

Now you have an idea of what a brand looks like -- and recognize we're using this word in a very personal way, not like "create your logo and slogan" kind of brand. Remember, with each photo or post you share with the world, you have the chance to shape the way they view you AND to shape the way they view the world because of you. Your content can go in many different directions.

In the activity below I'm going to help you choose 3 to 5 words (up to 10 if you need them) that represent YOU and your brand. As an example, let's consider the words: fun, encouraging, and vulnerable.

With each photo or post you share with the world, and even with each interaction you have, consider those words. Is that post EITHER fun, encouraging, or vulnerable? If it's not at least one of your "brand words," try again! If it IS at least one of your brand words, GET ON WITH YOUR BAD SELF!!

BRANDING ACTIVITY //

What adjectives would you use to describe your business? Deciding on 3-5 meaningful adjectives to characterize your brand can help you discover your ideal audience, your overall messaging, tone of voice, and your brand’s visuals.

Your brand personality is essentially how you “speak” to your people across your different platforms and media, and having some core traits is helpful for you to always refer back to.

Answer these questions to help you brainstorm your personal brand adjectives:

  • When people interact with my content, products, and services, I want them to feel ______.
  • When I talk to my ideal people, I want my tone of voice to be _________.
  • When people see something from my brand they think it is _________.
  • When thinking about my brand, I don’t want people to feel ________, ________, or _______.
  • If my brand was a person, they would be described as __________, __________, and _______.
